This is the long-term chastity cockcage buying guide I wish we had when we started. Years ago I left a short glossary note on this page. It explained, more or less, what a cockcage is. It did not help anyone who was about to spend money. So I am rewriting it properly: what we use at home for long-term chastity, how we sized it, and the mistakes I see people make when they shop like they are buying lingerie for a weekend.

I assume you already know the basic idea. The ring sits behind the balls. The cage attaches to the ring. A lock keeps him from taking it off. While he is locked he cannot masturbate, and erections become uncomfortable instead of fun. In our house he wears it on ordinary weekdays, not only when we have planned a scene. I wrote about how we got there in Long-term chastity – how it started. Below is the hardware side.
One boring but important line first: this is adult, consensual play between adults. If skin goes pale or blue, if he loses feeling, if something feels medically wrong, unlock. Forums are not doctors.
Why we bother with a cage at all
I like rules that work when I am not standing over him. A cockcage is one of those. He can still work, cook, walk the dog. He cannot quietly finish himself on the sofa while I sleep. That was literally how we started: used tissues under the couch after I had sent him to sleep in the living room because of my insomnia. Shared sexuality means shared. The cage enforces that without me having to ask every night.
It also changes how he thinks. A teasing touch that used to be pleasant becomes a problem he cannot solve alone. Thinking of me becomes physical. In a Femdom household I find that useful. I have never bought a cage to “prevent cheating.” If trust is the only reason you are shopping, deal with the relationship before you deal with steel.
Our house rule is simple and has been in the proposal for years: he wears it. He gets a morning break for hygiene and breaks when sport or a medical need requires it. Overnight and weekends depend on how he has behaved. Unlocking because he is bored is not on the menu.
The ring comes before the pretty cage
Almost every failed long-term attempt I hear about starts with someone ordering a shiny cage in one size because a photo looked hot. Then the ring is wrong. Too loose and the whole thing tries to migrate forward, or slips enough to scare everyone. Too tight and you get swelling, cold skin, panic at 3 a.m., and a very unsexy trip for the spare key.
Measure him soft, standing, after a normal day. Be honest. Buy a kit with several rings, or an adjustable setup, and live with the ring (and a temporary cage body) for real life: office chair, walk, sleep, morning wood. Twenty quiet minutes on the bedroom carpet tells you almost nothing.
When the ring is right, the skin behind it looks normal after he has been up and around. No pins and needles. No angry red groove that lasts. A light mark that fades is common. Damage is not.
Length: shorter than his ego wants
Men often want a longer tube because it photographs as “more cock.” For all-day wear, extra length usually means more shifting, more pinching when he softens, more catching on underwear. Night erections will still happen. The device has to contain them without cutting. If he wakes every hour for a week, change the fit before you lecture him about attitude.
We ended up with a relatively short metal cage after trying options that looked more impressive and felt worse by Wednesday. Vanity is expensive. Sleep is not optional.
Metal, plastic, and when custom makes sense
My slave wears solid metal for long stretches. It is heavy. He notices it. Hygiene is manageable if urine can drain and you keep a morning cleaning habit. The downsides are obvious once you leave the house: airport security, some medical imaging, the thud if he sits wrong. Have a plan for those days instead of inventing one at the gate.
Resin and plastic kits are useful while you are still learning sizes. They are also often noisy, sometimes brittle, and some of them smell after a week. I treat them as training wheels. I would not make one the forever device unless it truly fits better than anything else you have tried.
Custom and precision cages are worth money after you already know your ring size and length from weeks of wear. Ordering custom as your first cage is how people end up with a beautiful paperweight. Measure, live with a cheap kit, then upgrade.
A week in our house
People ask for brand names. Fair. I am still careful about that until I have disclosure sorted. What I can say without a shopping link: we landed on a solid metal cage after a plastic kit taught us the ring size. The metal one is heavier. He notices it when he sits down at his desk. I notice when he walks into the kitchen already half-distracted. That feedback loop is part of why I keep him in it.
Mornings he unlocks when I allow the break, washes properly, checks for trapped hair and sore spots, and presents himself again to be locked. That hour is maintenance, not a loophole for porn. Smell is my problem as much as his. If something is off, I want to know early.
Keys stay with me. A spare exists for genuine emergencies and lives where he cannot casually “find” it during a weak moment. We treat keyholding as part of the wider protocol (who opens him if I am in hospital, what happens on travel days). That belongs on paper. The free 24/7 Starter Protocol has a place for it; the Protocol Pack has more room if you like blanks.
Sleep is the real exam. Early on, night erections woke him constantly. Some of that improved as he got used to it. Some of it only improved when we changed the device. If you destroy someone’s sleep for a month because Instagram said Locktober, you are not training submission. You are being careless.
Sport and tight clothing need common sense. Cycling, certain gym machines, and very slim trousers all interact with metal in ways product pages never mention. We unlock for what needs unlocking. We do not unlock because he has a meeting and feels shy. Those are different problems.
How I would buy if we started again tomorrow
First we would write the rule: safeword or justified stop, hygiene rights, emergency unlock, who holds which keys. Then measure. Then a multi-ring kit and two weeks of ordinary life, including sleep. Only after that would I spend on proper metal in the size we had already proved. Lubricant, a small mirror, and a spare key plan sit next to the toy drawer, not in a fantasy shopping cart.
I will not pretend there is one perfect cage for everyone this year. Models change. Cheap copies of expensive designs are everywhere. A lot of “best of” lists exist to move stock. When I name a shop later, it will be one we have actually used, with a disclosed link. For now, obsess over fit and drainage, and over having a keyholder who is paying attention.

If chastity is only one part of how you keep him restricted, the longer piece on long-term bondage sits next to this. For the seasonal crowd currently halfway through October, I also wrote Locktober halfway: keep the chastity rule.
And if you want a full household operating system on paper rather than another cage in the post, that is what the Protocol Pack is for. Coffees on Buy Me a Coffee still help me carve out time for the next long how-to.
